Cell Block Musings Part 2 (Originally Posted 02/28/2020)

James 1:12-17 states, “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no”
Folks, our adversary, Satan, has come to lie, steel, and destroy! He’s the father of lies because he’s been lying from the beginning. Eve was told she wouldn’t die if she ate of the fruit. First, she was tempted. The thought was planted in her mind by Satan. She then acted on this thought which caused her to sin or disobey God. Some people believe God tempts them. This verse, which is the Word of God should help you with that wrong thinking. See, our Father wants us to persevere! Heck, He’s given us a way out of temptation! 1 Corinthians 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” My dear friends, The Word of God is truth. God the Father never changes. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever! Therefore, I want y’all to realize that we as followers of Christ are in a battle every day! Maybe we are tempted to sin by flinging our cigarette butts out the window of the car. I bet no one has thought of that as a sin! If we can’t handle the little things, obeying the seemingly insignificant laws, how can we expect God to bless us? Think of it this way… As Christians we have the Holy Spirit inside us. We have or should have the mind of Christ. Since we have the mind of Christ, he speaks to us in his still, small voice. God gave us this one earth also, so why destroy it with liter? Listen for his voice. Do you actually have peace while breaking these “little” laws? Scripture says if you break one of the commandments, you have broken them all. That’s right folks, that means all sin is sin. No matter how small, it matters to our Father in heaven! I ask that ya’ll think on these verses as you go through out your days. Think before you act. Would God really be ok with me doing this? He is always watching! May the Lord bless you and keep you safe.
Yours in Christ,
